Vankar Kaya Samat belongs to a family of distinguished weavers, who specialized in unique artistic weaving. There was a time in Kutch when many weavers could not survive on this work.The spirit of the artist within an artisan still remained, and they also experimented with their own forms and thought how to innovate keeping in mind the core of tradition.

Vankar Kaya Samat is an artisan who has understood and developed the sense of quality and fitness in their craft. In spite of lack of exposure and less tourist flow in Sarli the artisan has created an art piece in beautifully crafted design and became a recipient of National Sant Kabir Award.
